The Kickline

My work in progress (#wip) is The Kickline. In this YA novel Ella, former competitive dance, is uprooted from her home and her friends right before her senior year. Adapting to life in the sleepy New England coastal town that is a challenge. But it’s not long before she finds herself swept up in a life or death drama that makes the teenage social scene look like child’s play. Ella must quickly learn to distinguish friend from foe and stop a cold-blooded killer before the entire Kickline winds up dead.

Meet the Kickline:

Ella Starling. Reluctant Arizona transplant and high school senior who somehow finds herself caught in the middle of the drama.
Meet the Kickline - Ava
Ava Wlliams. One of only two under classmen to make the Kickline. Little sister to Avery. Obsessed with animals and boys.
Avery - Kicline dancer
Avery Williams. High school senior and class president. Has her sights set on Dartmouth, which doesn’t sit well with the Yale-loving locals.

Becca - Kicline alternate
Becca Shea. Alternate to the Kickline. Would she really do anything to make the dance team?
Crystal - Kickline dancer
Crystal Shooks. Senior member of the Kickline and captain of the Cross Country team. The only thing she likes more than running is ice-cream.
Twin Kicline dancer Janelle
Janelle Tulie. Jillian’s older sister, by 8 minutes. The only set of twins at Ripple Falls High. Janelle likes hiking, biking, and kayaking in the ocean.
Jilly
Jillian Tulie. Janelle’s younger sister. Although they are identical, Jilly prefers manincures and movie marathons to the great outdoors.
Meet the Kickline -Josie
Josie Kingston. Arguably the best dancer on the Line. Josie is the president of math club, physics club, chem club, and practices MMA.
Lexi B.
Lexi B. Co-captain of the Kickline. Self-proclaimed queen of the selfie. Yearbook editor and newspaper photographer she’s always snapping pictures. But behind that smiling facade there is a big secret lurking.
Meet the Kickline captain - Lexi T.

Lexi Y. Kickline dancer
Lexi Yesnick. Senior co-captain of the Kickline. After living in Lexi R.’s shadow for years she’s begining to assert her independence.
Maggie
Maggie Eakins. One of the richest girls in Ripple Falls. A champion equestrian, she spends more time at her family’s horse stables than she does at school.
Monica Greene The Kickline
Monica Green. The other sophomore member of the Kickline. One of the first girls to welcome Ella to Ripple Falls and to convince her to try out for the Kickline.
Sadie -Kickline alternate
Sadie Harper. A high school junior with a promising future in the theater. Last year she played the roles of Ephaba (Wicked) and Sophie (Mama Mia).
Trina
Trina Wen. An alternatie to the Kickline. Trina is known for her glowing smile and generous heart. She spends hours practicing to be ready for her Kickline debut.

The Boys

The Boys -Luke
Luke Grauler. Artist, loner, and town bad boy. Written off by his teachers and always the first to be blamed for everything.
Ryder
Ryder Cordero. Captain of the Westgate Prep Lacrosse team, SGA President, and future U.S. Senator. At least according to his mom, the town busybody.
Matt Green. A twenty-something real estate broker who returned to Ripple Falls for reasons unknwon. Monica’s older brother.

The book is going through one last round of edits and is out for query. In the meantime, check out my short stories. Or you can pick up a copy of Fireside, an anthology of modern legends and lore. My first-ever ghost story, “Lady of Darkness,” is included.
